Chapter 151 - Magic Always Existed
-----
Noah noticed that everyone had finished using their Skill Points, so he decided to finally speak up about his experience, while briefly and slowly explain his subordinates a few things regarding magic, but without going into much detail, simply revealing a bit of the surface, as he knew that they would not be able to understand everything immediately.
"I-I see. Well, this is a bit overwhelming to understand… And you say you only explained us the surface?" asked Iris.
"Indeed. It is but the surface. But this should help you all widen your range of perception about all of this. I believe I can share the magic and knowledge with you by making you all my devotees. Like this, the power of Bloodshot Eye can be shared. Although it might be lessened and manifest differently with each one of you. However, I cannot do this for now unless I amass larger quantities of power," said Noah.
"I-I see… We understand," said Arthur.
"Thanks for considering us, Master," said Timassa.
"It means a lot," said Jon.
"Indeed… I am so new here, so I am getting pretty flustered…" said Clementina.
"Very well… though, I would like to hear some of your thoughts about all of this. I know it is overwhelming and hard to process, but try," said Noah, while sipping some tea.
"I believe that it is indeed quite overwhelming, but it really widens the perception we saw the System this whole time. I guess we had given it for granted so long that we did not really question its existence… That it is made by an incredibly complex construction of magic could have come into my mind at some point, but I guess I did not question it further due to my powerlessness and lack of ways to find more knowledge nor investigate it further… Well, now that we are at your side, it is nice to know such things a little bit. Honestly, I am eager to learn actual magic," said Iris.
"I see. I am glad to know that you are so interested in the occult, Iris. As my wife, I shall train you very well in the way of magic. Let us unravel their mysteries together," said Noah, while grabbing Iris\'s hand. His wife suddenly felt her heart beating faster as the excitement of learning magic with the one she loved surged through her mind.
"Sure thing! Everything always keeps expanding. It is good to know that I have… someone to always rely on. I will also make sure to become someone you can rely on as well," said Iris with a gentle smile.
"I am rather overwhelmed, but I remember my grandfather always saying that Magic always existed, but that we never developed it before the System emerged… He said that the true enemy was always the System… Maybe he meant what you said? He was a mysterious man… I think he might have been a mage even before the Apocalypse… Perhaps that is how he managed to protect my parents," said Arthur.
As Arthur dropped those words, Noah recalled the few times when Arthur spoke about his grandfather, being a mysterious and strong old man who had the power to control spirits, which he had assumed were from the System, but it seemed that Arthur meant… even before that.
Could there have been magic in Earth even before the System?
Noah began to consider that it could not be possible for a world to be completely devoid of any mana, as he had learned some of the cosmic truth from Bloodshot Eye.
Meaning, even worlds that were considered "mana-less" should have mana, it was simply underdeveloped, or the levels of mana were way too faint for most of the population to develop its vast powers.
Noah recalled the event that opened the apocalypse and killed most of the population of humans on Earth before gates even emerged, the Miasma Waves, which were corrupted, highly mutagenic waves of incredibly concentrated mana.
Such mana caused destruction all around the world, left the land into wastelands of toxic waste, made the sea dark, and filled with monsters, and converted most of the human population into mutated beasts for the ones that survived, while the others were simply wiped out.
Although many other humans survived, this event could have been said to be the end of the world as it was known and the birth of something new.
However, Noah and everyone else present was born after such events and were unaware of the horrors of such an initial era.
"Your grandfather… did he left something behind, Arthur? Do you remember anything?" asked Noah with intrigue.
"He left a ton of clothes and little accessories he always treasured and kept hidden… There was also a type of crystal ball he used for something, but he was very secretive, it wasn\'t until his last days that he revealed a bit of what he truly was… but he parted ways from us without completely telling us everything…" said Arthur.
"I see… how interesting. Where could these things be? Perhaps we might have to go there," said Noah.
"Oh… They are in the underground of this manor… Well, it did not get destroyed because it is all below ground, sealed in a magic door. Which we have not been able to enter yet… Before dying my grandfather said that the door would open itself when I "learned the truth". But I do not get it. Maybe the truth about the System that you talked about?" asked Arthur curiously, even after developing a bit, he was still quite naïve.
Noah immediately realized that it was indeed all about magic, and sighed internally as he considered how Arthur could not realize this earlier… Well, it was better this way, so he could find out by himself.
"Hm. We may go there later. For now, let me introduce you to some of the very basic magic concepts, which I want all of you to practice. As long as you know the basics, even those without a pact with a Patron can use magic... All of you already awakened your innate Attributes thanks to the Blood Cores within your bodies, so it shouldn\'t be incredibly hard to do," said Noah.
The Blood Progenitor who was with Noah through the explanation seemed to agree.
"You had indeed learned quite a lot. In Abyss, it could be said that we also used magic, but we combined it with our Blood Cores for greater effects and easier and swifter uses. Just like the System in here, we were being helped by our supernatural race, bloodlines, and the Blood Core. It could be said to be similar…" said the Blood Progenitor.
Abyss, the world of Vampires was also filled with magic uses of all kinds, alongside specific and complex uses of it named "Abilities" which were powerful spells innate to specific Vampires or Bloodlines, which were tied to the Vampires Blood Cores.
Through this use of magic, Noah and the rest could manifest spells or "abilities" similarly to how the Robots had done almost automatically due to not possessing the System to restrict them as much. Well, the System did not really restrict, but always gave easier paths to instant power instead of the complex way to understand magic.
Noah suddenly infused his vast mana into his hands, as he waved them and suddenly chanted a few strange words.
Flash.
Suddenly, a magic circle emerged, glowing faintly as many runes floated around the magic circle.
