Chapter 89 Next Phase Of The Shadow Assassin Technique.
\'\'Raarrgh… \'\'
The monsters\' voices, which had finally noticed them, began to draw closer. The terrifying sounds that had initially only come from behind soon spread to the right, left, and finally in front of them.
They were once again surrounded.
Dan, on the other hand, lacked the strength to flee them this time.
\'\'I\'m sorry, Rayn... I can\'t… \'\' And Dan finally gave up. There was no point in deceiving himself any longer. With the realization that the monsters had surrendered them again and his body\'s condition, he truly accepted that they had come to an end.
There was no other way out for them.
His eyes began to get wet, and the blood that was coming from his veins that had ruptured from his straining mixed with the tears.
\'\'No, boss. It has to be me who is sorry. It was my fault. You gave it your all. Just because I\'m useless… \'\' Rayn, too, was unable to suppress the tears he had been holding back up until this point.
\'Just when I had a chance to get stronger, \' Dan murmured as he regarded the approaching monsters.
\'He will be disappointed in me, \' he thought, and a wave of regret washed over him.
As they waited among the monster horde and resigned themselves to their deaths, something dropped in front of them.
"What is that? \'\'
Dan initially believed it to be one of those stupid monsters that misjudged its attack and fell in front of them, but upon closer inspection, he was completely taken aback.
"What the hell is this man doing here?! \'\'
Dan said as he observed the masked man lying dead in front of them. This was the man who had just attempted to kidnap Rayn and opened fire on them, putting them in this situation.
\'\'I think I made it on time. \'\'
A recognizable voice interrupted Dan and Rayn as they were wondering how the body of the masked man ended up here. The first thought that came to mind when they turned their heads to face the source of the sound was,
\'We are saved. \'
Raydon welcomed Rayn and Dan with a serene smile on his face as he stood silently next to them. He didn\'t seem to care about the numerous terrifying creatures that were all around him.
\'\'B-brother… \'\' Dan wanted to say something, but he couldn\'t think of anything to say. Similarly, Rayn was at a loss for words to express his current emotions.
They accepted their impending death just seconds ago. However, they were now guaranteed to live simply by Raydon\'s presence.
\'\'It appears you have mastered the first phase of the shadow assassin technique. \'\' Dan was surprised to hear Raydon say this while staring at him.
What was the first phase? And why was Raydon suddenly complimenting him on it?
Dan was trying to make sense of what Raydon was saying when he noticed Raydon reach out and slowly pull a short sword from a black hole that appeared out of nowhere.
\'\'I didn\'t mention it before, but the primary purpose of this technique is not to avoid or hide from enemies. \'\'
He had already fully drawn the sword and was aiming it at the approaching monsters when he finished speaking.
"Now that you\'ve made such significant progress, I can demonstrate the technique\'s true intent for you. This will be your next training, so watch carefully. \'\' Raydon chuckled as he moved the sword.
The light of the moon, illuminating the darkness of the night, was briefly reflected from the surface of the sword, and all Dan saw was a brief flash of light.
And then Raydon vanished...
\'\'W-where has brother Raydon gone? \'\' Rayn inquired, startled.
\'Watch carefully? As if I can. \' Dan sighed and focused his attention on the monster horde.
\'\'I\'m not sure, but I can make a guess. \'\' Dan uttered.
Rayn turned his head in the direction Dan was looking, not understanding what he was thinking, and saw the frightening monster running towards them and getting closer.
\'\'Boss? \'\'
Rayn worriedly called out, but received no response; in fact, he didn\'t need to get a response anymore. Because the scene that unfolded in front of his eyes answered all of his questions.
The monster, charging towards them with all its might, collapsed to the ground with its head severed, and slid on the ground before coming to a halt in front of them.
\'\'W-w-w-what was that? I-ı-ıs it dead? \'\' Rayn stammered, staring at the monster\'s headless body in front of him. This time, his stuttering was not triggered by sadness or fear but by shock.
\'\'I think it\'s too soon for us to be surprised,\'\' Dan said, but there was a look of surprise on his face as well. He was watching what was going on with his eyes wide open.
The second monster, followed shortly by the third and fourth, was also mysteriously decapitated and fell to the ground.
As they watched the monsters in front of them continuously have their heads chopped off, Rayn and Dan had the appearance that their eyes were going to pop out.
\'Is this a true representation of the Shadow Assassin technique we are learning? \' Dan watched as his whole body shook with excitement. All of the pain he was experiencing was forgotten. The demonstration of the technique\'s power in front of his eyes exceeded his wildest expectations.
Even the entire army of monsters appeared unaware of Raydon\'s presence, as neither Dan nor Rayn could see him.
Dan suddenly recalled what Raydon had just said—that this was his next training—as he eagerly observed what was taking place in front of him.
\'But I\'m not even able to see him. \' Dan took a moment to reflect before recalling and putting into practice everything he had learned so far. In an effort to locate Raydon, he returned to full focus.
And eventually, he began to see results. Even though he was still unable to see Raydon, he was still able to make out the light Raydon\'s sword left behind after each swing.
Following this light, he started to simulate Raydon\'s movements in his head. He could picture Raydon, sword in hand, dancing in the middle of the monster horde.
His movements were as effortless and fluid as water could be; there was no force behind them.
