Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

Chapter 238 Long Wait

Diam said to Belicia, who was gazing at the ground with flushed cheeks and a lowered gaze, \'\'It\'s a pity he didn\'t insist on having you accompany him. \'\'

Since she was the head of the battle maids, it was also her other job to match the family heirs and the battle maids, and it was pretty clear what she was trying to do at the moment.

"What are you saying, Miss Diam? " Belicia\'s face flushed further as she grasped the underlying meaning of Diam\'s words. With a mix of embarrassment and resignation, she replied in a hoarse and disheartened tone, "My fate is already intertwined with another young master. "

Diam pondered, paying close attention to Belicia\'s emotional state. \'As expected," she thought to herself, "his presence has already started to make its impact. \'

Diam spoke, her voice carrying an air of absolute certainty. "I don\'t think that a simple and fragile fate can stand a chance against greed."

Those words made no sense to Belicia, and she looked up at Diam\'s expressionless face for clarification. \'\'What do you m… \'\'

And just as she was about to ask what she meant, she was interrupted by a voice coming from behind her.

\'\'Miss Belicia, I finally found you. \'\'

Someone who appeared to be dressed as a maid could be seen making a hasty advance toward them from the opposite end of the corridor. It was obvious that the person in question was not a battle maid due to the fact that the individual\'s maid\'s costume appeared to be the same as those worn by the other maids working in this mansion and was also quite standard.

"Ah, Miss Diam," the maid exclaimed upon seeing her, respectfully bowing her head. Then, with a sense of urgency, she turned to Belicia and relayed the message. "Miss Belicia, Master Arden has summoned you to the meeting room."

\'\'Master Arden? \'\' When Belicia heard this, she was momentarily taken aback.

Generally, the family elders didn\'t require much interaction with the battle maids, as they entrusted the affairs either to their young masters or to Diam. Therefore, it came as a surprise to Belicia when she was summoned to the meeting room, where the entire family council would convene to make important decisions.

\'\'Miss Diam. \'\' After saying her farewells to Diam in a respectful manner and observing her node, Belicia turned around and hastened as quickly as she could to the meeting room. She did not dare delay this call.

After that, the maid who had just arrived also bowed her head and said her goodbyes to Diam, and she followed behind Belicia while attempting to keep up with her quick pace. As evidenced by her hurried steps and the sweat drops that had already formed on her forehead, it appeared as though being in close proximity to Diam for a protracted period of time was making her very anxious.

Diam did not pay much attention to the fact that all of the servants acting this way around her, as she remained motionless and kept her gaze fixed on the corner of the corridor where Belicia had disappeared. However, her focus soon shifted to the door that led to the room where Raydon was currently located.

Her previously emotionless countenance underwent a remarkable shift, albeit one that was only subtly noticeable. The placid smile that she frequently wore when Raydon was present widened, and the eyes that had previously appeared to be detached from her expression glowed with an evidently newly discovered zeal. Her hands, which had been resting behind her back, began to tremble ever so slightly.

In a voice tinged with a tremor of excitement, she softly murmured, \'For 18 long years, I have eagerly awaited your awakening. I wonder what your presence will bring to this world. \'

Witnessing Diam in her current emotional state would undoubtedly startle anyone unfortunate enough to be present. The startling contrast between her typically calm and emotionless demeanor and her current manifestation of childlike anticipation were truly fearsome. It was clear that something big was going to happen in this small family, something that would change their lives in an unknown way.

Raydon said to himself as he looked around, "It looks simpler than I thought."

The fact that the room appeared to be very similar to the other standard rooms in the mansion is a strong indicator that Belicia did not put much thought into decorating it. It appeared as though she had not put in much effort to personalize the area, as there were no distinctive characteristics or thoughtful decorations to be found in the room.

"There is still time before my next match; how should I spend this time?" Raydon started to reflect as he sat in the armchair next to the window.

In point of fact, he did not require any rest at this time; however, he chose to remain in the room because he had made the decision to wait for the blue-grade item that Cael had promised him. For the time being, he placed a higher priority on finding out what kind of item he will obtain as quickly as possible than on aimlessly exploring the mansion.

When Raydon considered how he ought to spend his time, his stomach began to rumble, and he frowned as he thought about it. \'\'It\'s been a while since I\'ve eaten. I wonder if they have room service here. \'\'

Raydon had gone without eating for a while because he was so busy, and when the voice from his stomach reminded him of this, he started to wonder if he could place an order at his family\'s kitchen and get the food for free.

However, he soon changed his mind about doing so because he was having trouble even locating a place to rest, and the idea of someone bringing him food seemed like a pipe dream. Instead, he retrieved some E-Rank meat from his dimensional storage and began to eat it.

"It looks like my daily food cost went up again, and now E-Rank meats won\'t be enough."  After a while, Raydon muttered under his breath with a frown when he noticed that he was not full, despite the fact that he had eaten more than he normally does in a single meal.
