I Returned as a High School Girl

Chapter 189: Reemployment (3)

Chapter 189: Reemployment (3)

It was almost midnight. Hearing So Ha-Jin entering the home, the light in the master bedroom turned on.

“Did you just get back?” Ha-Jin’s mother asked while forcibly opening her drowsy eyes.

Ha-Jin said while taking off her shoes, “You should’ve just stayed in bed. Why did you get up?”

“I can’t just stay in bed when my daughter has come back home. Where have you been?”

“Seoul.”

“To meet that young actress lady you guarded last time?”

The mother also knew that Ra-Eun had called Ha-Jin. Ha-Jin nodded and started packing her things once she went back into her room.

“Huh? What are you doing?”

“I’m going back to Seoul.”

“Why?”

There was only one reason why.

“I decided to do bodyguarding again.”

“...?”

The mother couldn’t help but be dumbfounded by her daughter’s continuous flips in attitude.

***

Ha-Jin moved into the home that Ra-Eun had provided for her as soon as she arrived back in Seoul. She then changed into a female suit and adjusted it in front of a full-length mirror. Today was her first day at her new job.

‘I never thought I’d come back so soon.’

Ha-Jin had gone back down to her hometown with a firm resolve that she would quit bodyguarding, but she had expected herself to get back into it once or twice. That was how much she loved her job. However, this was far too soon.

Not even she had been able to overcome the sweet temptation of money. There was no one who would refuse when they were offered three times their former salary.

Ha-Jin drove to Ra-Eun’s building and went to her private security company office.

“Who the hell are you?”

“This place is a restricted area. Get out this instant.”

“...”

The gangster-like men that Ha-Jin had passed by on her first time here picked a fight with her.

“Like Ra-Eun said, you still lack education,” Ha-Jin remarked while sighing.

“Hyung-nim! This woman’s out of her mind!”

The eyebrows of Park Du-Chil, the scarred man as well as one of Ma Yeong-Jun’s executives, strongly flinched. He stuffed his hands deep inside his pockets and approached Ha-Jin.

“Who the hell do you think you are to say our chairwoman’s name willy-nilly? Huh?”

Du-Chil intimidated Ha-Jin with his height, taller than her by the length of her head, but Ha-Jin remained expressionless despite the huge difference in their builds. Her silence caused a vein to pop out in Du-Chil’s head.

“You must be out of your mind!”

He had simply raised his hand to intimidate Ha-Jin; he had no intention to hit her. However, that had been a huge mistake. Ha-Jin raised her left hand and struck Du-Chil right on his neck. She then extended out her right leg and tripped him. Du-Chil fell backwards after getting attacked on his neck and leg with no time to react.

Boom—!

Du-Chil fell on his butt, but his upper body remained upright because he had stretched his arms back as he fell. Ha-Jin was impressed.

“Wow. I was trying to make your entire body fall, but I guess your reflexes aren’t as bad as I’d expected.”

“Crazy bitch!”

Du-Chil’s rage overpowered the momentary confusion he had experienced from the surprise attack.

“I was going to go easy on you because you’re a woman, but you’re dead now!”

Whoosh—!

Du-Chil rapidly swung his right fist. Although it lacked accuracy, it was quite a fiery punch.

“It’s not bad, but...”

Ha-Jin slightly twisted to the left. She had perfectly dodged Du-Chil’s fist with the slightest movement.

“I suggest you rein in that temper of yours.”

She raised her knee and struck Du-Chil’s abdomen. His back bent like a shrimp, experiencing massive amounts of pain from getting struck right on his solar plexus. Du-Chil recalled a similar experience in the past. The woman who had given him that experience arrived along with Yeong-Jun.

“That was marvelous,” Ra-Eun remarked.

The men bowed at ninety-degree angles once they saw Ra-Eun slowly clapping.

“Good morning, Chairwoman!”

Ra-Eun exchanged glances with Yeong-Jun, which he then went to help Du-Chil up.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“B-Boss! That bitch—”

Just then, Ra-Eun raised her voice. “Who are you calling ‘that bitch’? That’s no way to address your new training instructor.”

“Pardon?”

Du-Chil simply blinked repeatedly, still unable to fully process what Ra-Eun had said. Meanwhile, Ha-Jin was surprised by how the situation was playing out.

“How long have you been here for, Ra-Eun?” she asked.

“From when you were educating Du-Chil.”

“You could’ve resolved the misunderstanding if you were here all along...”

Ha-Jin wondered why Ra-Eun had just sat back and watched.

“I wanted to see what you were capable of, and I thought these guys also needed a lesson on what kind of person you are.”

Ra-Eun smiled while looking at Du-Chil, who was still rubbing his abdomen. It was no less than the devil’s smile.

“What did you think after getting floored by her?” she asked.

“...She’s no joke.”

“Did it leave a greater impression on you than what I’d done?”

“No, I wouldn’t say that...”

His memory of getting floored by Ra-Eun had been far more memorable for Du-Chil. Once the commotion died down a little, Ra-Eun introduced Ha-Jin to everyone once again.

“Like I’d mentioned before, this is the instructor who will allow you all to transform from gangsters to bodyguards. You all just saw her skills with your own eyes, so make sure you follow her instructions well from now on. Got it?”

“Yes, Chairwoman!”

The men once again bowed at ninety-degree angles. Ha-Jin could not comprehend what was going on at all.

“Just who in the world are you, Ra-Eun?”

The Kang Ra-Eun that she was seeing right now was completely different from the one that she remembered.

Ra-Eun smiled meaningfully and said, “You don’t need to know.”

There was no reason for Ha-Jin to know in detail either.

***

Things had become far more stable once Team Leader So Ha-Jin entered Ra-Eun’s security company. Ra-Eun was far too busy with her acting career and business, so she could immediately see the effects once someone was available to educate the men in her place. However, Ra-Eun was not planning on leaving Ha-Jin just as an instructor; her main role was to be Ra-Eun’s chauffeur as well as her personal bodyguard.

Ha-Jin got in the driver\'s seat, started the car and said to Ra-Eun sitting in the back seat, “Here we go, Ra-Eun— I mean, Chairwoman.”

Since Ra-Eun was now her boss, Ha-Jin now had to call Ra-Eun ‘Chairwoman’ instead of her name.

Ra-Eun nodded and remarked while crossing her arms, “Alright, let’s see if your driving skills hold up.”

Ra-Eun was already well aware based on her past life knowledge that Ha-Jin was a good driver, but she decided to check just in case.

‘I’ll have to see for myself.’

There were times when things did not go exactly as she knew of the future, hence she had decided to test Ha-Jin’s driving skills. Ra-Eun left the steering wheel to Ha-Jin as they went for a short drive from Gangnam to Suwon.

“You’re a good driver,” Ra-Eun mentioned.

She was sure of it only five minutes after departure. She could tell just from the way Ha-Jin turned the steering wheel. Ha-Jin lightly nodded as she was praised by Ra-Eun and focused back on the road.

“Thank you, Chairwoman.”

Ha-Jin had driven countless times since it was practically a requirement for a bodyguard, so she had not been worried in the slightest. However, she had been bothered by something else.

“Where did you hire those people?”

“Are you talking about Misma and his men?”

“Misma?”

“It’s a nickname that I gave Mister Ma Yeong-Jun. I thought of it myself.”

“Aha...”

The information did not seem all that useful to Ha-Jin. She was more curious about how their relationship with Ra-Eun came to be. But before that, Ra-Eun wanted to confirm something.

“You remember the contents of the contract that you signed, correct?”

“Yes.”

There was a unique clause in the contract: The employee is subject to any and all punishment in the case that they reveal any secret they are aware of to an outside party. Confidentiality was common in contracts, but Ra-Eun’s contract was extremely strict with the punishment in the case that it was broken. There was likely a reason why.

“I told you that I had a revenge plan, didn’t I? That’s why I’m purposefully gathering people,” Ra-Eun stated.

“Who are you trying to take revenge against...?”

Ha-Jin wondered who all this preparation was for.

Ra-Eun shrugged her small shoulders and answered, “Congressman Kim Han-Gyo.”

It had been a while since she had spoken her mortal enemy’s name.

***

Ha-Jin was also very well aware of who Congressman Kim Han-Gyo was, since she had also guarded him before.

“Did Congressman Kim Han-Gyo wrong you somehow, Ra-Eun— I mean, Chairwoman?”

“Yes, to a point that you wouldn’t believe.”

He had framed her for every injustice that he had committed and then took her life. There was likely no greater sin than that. Ra-Eun still held an enormous grudge against Han-Gyo after all this time. However, she did not reveal what Han-Gyo had done to her because that was related to her return to the past; she would only sound like a lunatic if she said something so unrealistic.

.

Hence, Ra-Eun answered vaguely, “My opponent is an extremely influential politician, so that’s why I’ve also been raising my influence while making ample preparations.”

“Then is your business and acting career—”

“Yes, they are part of my plan.”

Ra-Eun’s tenacity was impressive. Ha-Jin couldn’t believe that Ra-Eun had been doing all of this simply for revenge.

“The guys that you’ve been teaching used to be just run-of-the-mill gangsters.”

“I’d thought as much.”

“But I saw that their fists could be of use. Especially Misma.”

“You’re talking about Mr. Ma Yeong-Jun, right?”

“Yes.”

Ha-Jin had understood Ra-Eun’s abbreviation this time.

“I’m sure they’ll be a great help to you once you train them well,” Ra-Eun remarked.

“I understand.”

Ha-Jin had become Ra-Eun’s as soon as she signed the contract. Since she had decided to become the closest of Ra-Eun’s associates, she would now never doubt any of her actions. However, Ha-Jin couldn’t help but worry.

“Congressman Kim Han-Gyo is an extremely influential man in the Korean political world...”

In short, Ha-Jin was asking Ra-Eun if her revenge would really go according to plan. A corner of Ra-Eun’s mouth rose. Like Ha-Jin had mentioned, it definitely would not be easy. However, she was still confident.

“I’ll make sure it gets across Congressman Kim Han-Gyo’s head that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

Ra-Eun would prove that old proverbs existed for a reason.

1. The two cities are about twenty minutes away by car.
