Chapter 124 - Lucky Bead (3)
Di Qiuhe, who had been thinking about how to persuade He Bai into coming back with him for New Year, was struck dumb. He hurriedly stepped forward with the box in hand, but the light in the corridor went off the next second and before he knew it, He Bai had disappeared around the corner.
He halted his steps and remained quiet for a few seconds, then he looked down at the box and gradually pursed his lips.
Little Puppy seemed to be avoiding him... But why? Was it because he had sensed his intention and found it hard to accept?
The previous happiness was gradually fading away and his mood was constantly switching from bright to dim like that light placed in between the area where the passageway joined the corridor.
The ingot beside the lucky bead suddenly touched his skin and upon realizing this, he thought for a bit and opened the box.
Inside the box was a golden crane whose head got a small plastic ball glued on it, much like that golden dog he sent.
He pictured how Little Puppy glued that ball onto the head and smiled. He stretched out his hand to poke the plastic ball and the already unstable ball immediately dropped to the ground, making a crisp sound.
The light went on immediately after this, much like how his suddenly brightened heart.
It’s fine if Little Puppy was avoiding him. The fact that he flew over to see him said a lot about how he cared for him. All he had to do right now was to get closer to him. It didn’t matter if He Bai had realized what he was up to. This way he wouldn’t have to worry about startling him.
Thinking about this, his mood brightened up again and he strode forward to pick up the ball and then ran upstairs.
He Bai had just put down his luggage and took off his coat when suddenly the doorbell rang. Befuddled, he went to the door and looked out through the peephole. Much to his surprise, it was Di Qiuhe. He hurriedly opened the door and asked, “What’s up? You forgot something?”
The moment He Bai opened the door, he had his hand pressed onto the door and looked down on him. Then he held him up and stepped into the room. Before He Bai realized what had happened, he turned around to close the door, took off his coat and strode into the bathroom.
Bang. The door of the bath room was closed in front of He Bai.
He Bai, on the other hand, was very much astonished by what he had just seen. He rubbed the areas where Di Qiuhe had touched when he held him up and started pounding on the door, “Qiuhe, what are you doing?”
“Taking a shower,” Di Qiuhe’s voice wafted through the door, which sounded very determined, “I am sleeping here tonight!”
On hearing that, He Bai paused, not understanding what he meant. “What?”
“I am sleeping here tonight!”
“What about me?”
“You can sleep next to me!”
He Bai’s heart started racing like crazy and he pounded the door even harder as a way of expressing his protest, “No way. Go back to your room!”
Click. The door opened and Di Qiuhe’s face emerged from behind it. He’s got that emotionless poker face which looked very cold, “I left my room card in my room.”
He Bai couldn’t help sweeping a look at his naked chest and waist... But he immediately withdrew his gaze and kept focusing on Di’s face. He frowned, “Go get the concierge to open your door. They must have a spare room card!”
Di Qiuhe drew open the door and stood in front of him like he didn’t care and asked with a stern face, “Little puppy, why don’t you want to sleep with me?”
He Bai tried hard to keep his eyes from wandering off again and said, “I have already told you. I am a bad sleeper. You will be disturbed.”
“Then I will hold you. That way you can’t move.”
“I also talk when I am asleep.”
Di slightly bent over in order to look him in the eye. Then he raised his hand to pinch his cheek and asked, “Little Puppy. Why are you avoiding me? Think I will eat you up?”
He Bai’s heart was pounding out of control.
‘I am right about my feelings!’
He Bai gritted his teeth and thought, ‘Well, you asked for this! It’s not my fault!’
He had tried so hard to control himself. Who would have thought that Di would throw himself at him!
Spurred by his animal nature, he touched Di’s chest and swept him a look all the way down to his private part and laughed like a street rogue, “Don’t want to sleep? Are you sure you want to do this? Well, let’s do this then. Go back inside and finish your shower. Let’s see who is the boss here!” After finishing those words, he patted on his arm and waist and kicked him into the bathroom. Then he slammed shut the door.
‘... Why does him suddenly act like this? This is so exciting.”
The water kept running and the man inside the bathroom started washing himself like he said he would.
As the animal desire mitigated a bit, He Bai suddenly realized something odd.
Ever since he realized his feeling towards Di, he had been focused on trying not to cause Di any trouble, but he might have missed an important issue and that was he was not sure that Di is a straight guy. What if Di didn’t like girls at all and therefore couldn’t start a family with any girl?
It had never occurred to him before, but after what just happened, he began to spot something unusual in Di’s attitude towards him that he wouldn’t normally be able to realize. Di was indeed being awfully intimate and open with him.
Putting aside his earlier behaviors, a normal straight guy wouldn’t normally greet his friend with an intimate hug from behind and that little episode just now did seem a bit awkward.
Now that to think of it, although Di had got many rumors about his romance life, he didn’t admit to any of those rumors. Could it be that he did have a lover, it was just that he couldn’t reveal to the public the gender of that lover?
Thinking about this, He Bai took two steps back against the wall and started stroking his chin like a detective.
‘If Di is gay, then what he did just now might say something about his feeling about me.’
Now that they were in the same room. He Bai started thinking that maybe he could test out his theory.
After finishing his shower, Di came out in a robe. Unlike the domineering way in which he carried himself when he entered the room, this time he walked up to the bed like a well-behaved kid, lifting up the quilt and preparing to go to sleep.
He Bai put down the album and sized him up from head to toe. He then beckoned him to come over and said, “Go over here and let me have a look.”
Di halted his movement and tightened up his robe. He walked up to He Bai’s side, stretched out his hand to take the kettle and asked matter-of-factly, “Are you hungry? How about a midnight snack? They say they have a new specialty in this hotel.”
He Bai suddenly leaned over, his nose stroking across Di’s hair.
Di kept his mouth shut and the kettle almost fell down to the table.
